Not-for-Profit Treats from (Last) Week
Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 7:01AM If you were like me last week, you may have fallen a bit behind in your blog reading. Not to worry: I finally caught up yesterday and here are some of my favourites from over the past few days.
Communications and Marketing
With so many channels to choose from, creating and implementing an effective communications strategy can be a big challenge for any NFP. Kivi Leroux Miller offers three guidelines to keep in mind when mapping out your game plan in this excellent post.
Allyson Kapin talks about why social media can’t be used in a vacuum as a marketing and communications too. She makes a good point (and gives the pot a good stir) and ends her post by saying: “Social media as a fundraising, list building, and organizing tool has been inflated for four years. How much longer can nonprofits afford to significantly over-invest in it, before the bubble bursts?”
Leadership
Joel Albizo articulates some of the main themes that came out of a conversation he had with association CEO’s at ASAE’s annual conference in LA last year about what association leaders today have to do in order to lead in the reset economy.
HR/Career
Jamie Notter talks about why so many of us aren’t doing what we were ‘born to do’ and why, at the root of this, is a fear of pushing ourselves.
