Keep Looking. Don't Settle. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

The world has lost a true innovator in Steve Jobs.  This is a man whose vision has changed the way we all experience the world. He is one of the people that is responsible for the technology allowing you to read this blog post.

If you haven’t seen it already, Jobs’ Commencement Address to the 2005 graduating class at Stanford University is a must-see.

Jobs' definitely had his share of ups and downs: He dropped out of college, may or may not have experiemented with psychedellic drugs and Buddhism, co-founded Apple and started building computers in his garage.  After ten years of hard work, Apple was worth 2 billion dollars and by 1985 he was fired. He then proceeded to start up several new companies including, of course, Pixar Animation Studios. Throughout all this, he became a husband and father and went through a long battle with pancreatic cancer, starting in 2004.

Phew! Despite the roller coaster he seems to have been on, as well as all the good and bad press he has gotten along the way, you've got to hand it to the man:  It seems he really did live by the  advice he gave the Stanford class of ‘05.

  • “Have the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well-worn path.”
  • “Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.”
  • “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
  • “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Somehow, they already know what you want to become.”
  • “Keep looking. Don't settle.”
  • “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”

Words to live by.
