Nonprofit Treats from Around the Web: May 9, 2011
Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:36PM Lots of great stuff to read in the nonprofit blogosphere last week! Here are some of the goodies I found...Happy Monday!
The Millenials and Your Nonprofit
There were a couple of solid articles last week in Charity Village on the issue of bringing Millenials into your nonprofit organization. Both are worth a read:
- This is a great article published last week in Charity village by Trina Isakson: Millennial Engagement: Bringing the Next Generation into Your Organization. She explains why she thinks that the "perceived lack of loyalty" we tend to see in millenials "is actually a lack of engagement on the part of the organization and its leadership." There are a lot of solid insights in this piece. Read it!
- John Grant, Candy Ho and Aaron Sanderson collaborate to give us some more food for thought where Millenials are concerned in this handy manual called "Getting Along with GenY."
Social Media - How to Make it Happen!
There were lots of good social media implementation pieces on the web last week as well. Here are my faves:
- Social Media: What's Your Policy? By Elisa Birnbaum
- Analyzing your analytics? Here is a handy article on unique users and how to avoid overcounting them
Marketing Matters
- For some time now, 'mobile' has been touted as the next big wave where marketing is concerned. Here are some staggering stats to chew on: Mobile Marketing Spend to Sextuple 2010-2015
- How often are you sending bulk emails? Naomi Hamilton has shares some tips on how to find the right balance.
Management
- I really enjoyed this post by Clemens Rettich on how to avoid running your organization 'conditionally.' He talks about managing employees using an approach that is a lot like "Warmer, Warmer, Hot!" Great advice!
